Workwear
Hello out there!
It has been a while since I have posted an outfit post purely due to the fact I have been immensely busy with work.
Speaking of work, to pay the bills, I work for a medical communications agency where I currently project manage events.
Working on site at an event can get very stressful and busy which means I have to be smart with what I wear as I am on my feet all day and make sure I don't get all sweaty.
So I decided to choose a jersey swing dress (so I don't have to worry about a cardigan), which I brought from my usual ASOS Curve (I also wore in here) that I turned into a top using a simple black belt.
The skirt is also ASOS (main range) which creates a pop of colour and simple black flats from new look (wide fit) for comfort.
What do you wear to work? What do you think about when putting an outfit together?
Thanks for reading!

Simple look with SimplyBe
Hello out there!
Tonight my husband and I met up with the fam for a spot of dinner.
Over the past few months I have been wearing my ASOS Curve leather jacket to death, so I thought it was high time to give it a rest and try something new.
Luckily, as I was browsing the SimplyBe website, I noticed that they were still selling the Grazia leather sleeve jacket which I have been lusting after forever! As I saw the dreaded words, "low in stock" I snapped it up quicker that you can say Jim Robinson!
I kept the overall outfit fairly simply adding a pop of colour with a scarf I got from ASOS back in 2009.

British Plus Size Fashion Weekend
Hello out there!
This weekend saw the very first British Plus Size Fashion Weekend which I first mentioned here. I went along to the fashion show, and they had a great range of designers there, including SimplyBe, Cult of California and One One Three, to name but a few.
I will let the pictures to the talking...
Here's what I wore to the show, I wasn't sure what to wear so I kept it simple with this new top from ASOS Curve, I love the sheer half of the top and with the jersey pencil skirt from ASOS main range there's a peek-a-boo effect with ma belly!

Plus Size Tall Magazine - plus size street style
I've been featured in plus size tall magazine in their plus size street style feature!

Miss Plus Size International - OOTD
Last week I was invited to an interview for the Miss Plus Size International competition (formally Miss BBW International)!
"Miss Plus Size International is a competition where plus size women and their admirers can come together to celebrate the beauty of size in a non judgmental environment and show that some of us do actually appreciate our curves! Most importantly, we show that we are comfortable in our own skin and not intimidated by the continuous pressure from the media to fit into a certain size label to be deemed acceptable in society. We proudly recognise that a great many plus size women do hold down high powered jobs and lead perfectly normal and happy lives. Not everyone wants to be a size zero and we are here to prove that there is life after a size 18!"
I actually found out what I was invited to the interviews the Monday before the interviews which took place on Saturday 26th January so I didn't have much time to plan an outfit!
Luckily I had brought this gorgeous checker board print skirt form asos that I was itching to wear, and teamed it with my trusty peplum dress also from asos curve.

It was a really fun day, I met some lovely ladies from all over the UK and it was great to see so many positive, confident women.
Until next time!

I'm still learning
Growing up in the UK in the 1990’s, I had my fair share of fashion faux pas, there were shell suits (neon green, pink and grey!), Reebok classics (urgh..) and Ellesse jumpers (let’s NOT go there).
I admit, at 28, I still do make fashion mistakes whilst trying to be creative.
Take this dress:
Now, when I tried the dress on, I loved it, with heels it brought about a 1950’s-esque look....but when it translate onto photo..it didn't look....quite right...

Hmm. |
Note: to self, the model is 5’10...I am 5’3.
Never. Again.
I guess I am still learning on what suits my body.
Have you ever made a fashion faux pas in order to be creative? Do you know what suits you and what doesn't?
Let me know!

Starry eyed
Happy new year to you all! I hope you are all well and had joyful holidays.
I have such high hopes for 2013, I have so many exciting projects both professionally and personally and I can't wait to share them with you!
So recently I have been noticing a certain trend that I am currently loving at the moment, star/galaxy print clothing.
I first noticed the print on the Domino Dollhouse Astralnauts Collection, where Tracy Broxterman had created some gorgeous pieces including their babydoll dress and pencil skirt (below).

I then noticed two ASOS pieces that had followed the trend, a stunning pair of leggings,

and also, a lovely wrap top from ASOS Curve which I recieved as a belated Christmas present from my husband (aww!).

I kept my outfit simple as I wanted the top to be the main focus.
Top: ASOS Curve (here), Leggings: H&M, Studded Pumps: Primark |
So have you noticed any other pieces similar to this trend, if so, please let me know!

Hello out there!
Just a quick post to show you an outfit I wore recently to a Nigerian wedding.
I was stuck for what to wear as everything was too summery! Luckily I found a skirt I had custom made which I westernized!
Apologies for the poor photo quality - hubby was watching the sports!

Work flow
Hello out there!
December has been a busy time for me work wise so apologies for not posting as regularly as I should be!
I am quite lucky that I have a job that has a relaxed dress code, it means I can be quite creative and also, if I am having an off day, I don't need to put a suit on! Below are a couple of typical outfits I would wear to work..

New shopping find!
I love coming across new labels and places where I can clothe my big ass, so I wanted to let you in on my new find: Coco Curve, an online boutique specialising in plus- sized clothing! The boutique is owned by a gorgeous lady, Chelsea Duarte who I happened to stumble across on my Instagram (I'm addicted!). She is also the UK editor for the fabulous Skorch magazine! One of my favourite pieces is her long maxi dress which is perfect for winter, which I will definitely be purchasing!. Check it out!

LPSFW Model Casting and OOTD
Hello out there!
So following on from my previous post regarding the exciting London Plus Size Fashion Weekend that will take place in February 2013, I went down to the model casting on Saturday 1st December to strut my stuff!
Its clear to say that, I was extremely nervous! I was surrounded by a lot of extremely beautiful plus sized women some who were professionals and some who were "amateurs" like myself.
Overall it was a very quick casting, I met with Rianne Ward of Evolve magazine, Remi Ray, from Trapped in a Skinny World and the stunning Anna Shillinglaw from Milk Management who said I had a lovely shape!
They asked me a series of questions, such as, what I did for a living, my dress size and height. At 5'4 I am short to be a model, but I believe that you can do anything you put your mind to no matter what size or height you are!
If I don't get selected for the show, I won't be disappointed, I had a great time and good feedback which has boosted my confidence and I will definitely be getting tickets for the fashion weekend!
After the casting, I went out with some friends for a birthday party and chose some of my favourite ASOS pieces!

Exciting news!
Hello out there!
After a long hiatus, I am back! (Hello to my 1 follower *wave*).
I had a few technical issues and wasn't feeling in a bloggy mood but I am back with a vengeance and plan to blog more and hopefully turn this into something more permanent.
So as my heading states, I have exciting news!
It all started when Kellie B, who I follow on Facebook, put a post up about the LONDON PLUS SIZE FASHION WEEKEND! (caps lock on due to excitement!).
You can find out all about it here, it will take place in the middle of 2013 LFW in February (eee!)and is the brainchild of Trapped in a Skinny World and Evolve Magazine. I can't wait!
The weekend will be fun packed and will include a fashion show (duh!), styling class, a swap shop and a discussion panel with key industry professionals!
They are currently looking for models and the casting will take place on Saturday 1st December starting at 11am at Living Space, 1 Coral Street, London, SE1 7BE. If you are interested, sign up online by 30 November. Please take with you a pair of heels and two pictures they can keep!
Good Luck! xx

Crap summer
Hello out there!
So here's an outfit I put together earlier this week. I was in a bit of a pickle on what to wear as the weather in the UK currently is tres disappointing with all the non-stop rain, so I thought I would play it safe and wear something not too summery (is that a word?!) so I won't get caught out in the rain.
The jumper is from ASOS (again! I know! FYI - this will be a common occurrence...) which I brought a while back but never really wore it. I brought it in a 24 so that it fits loosely and because of the large knit effecty thing of the jumper, there was room for ventilation so I won't get hot and sticky on the tube home from work! The skirt is H&M and the belt is Primark (circa 2008). Oh and the shoes are Clarks (circa 2008).
Wishing you wonderful weekends!

Leggings and Racoons...
I wasn't going to make this an outfit post because firstly the picture is crappy and looks utterly pretentious (thanks for the direction sis!) and secondly, because I am wearing leggings (couldn't find my jeans this morning...) so it's a little out of my comfort zone - I do wear leggings, usually with dresses that I feel are too short ...but leggings as trousers...or leggings with short tops are for me, I feel, are a cardinal sin, it just shouldn't happen!..But today it did..and so, I teamed it with this shirt I stole from my sister which she recently brought. Loving the cute racoons!
You can find it here...what do you think? C xx
